Turtles – 5 to 17 Years Old

Level I – Four Students / One Swim Teacher
Prerequisites: Swim 40 feet with “Windmill Arms”, Rollover Breathing (Back Float)

Description: Focus is on gaining confidence, students will be taught how to make safe choices in the water.

Both Level I and Level II develop the Freestyle Stroke with side breathing and bi-lateral breathing. The Backstroke is another focus for these two Intermediate levels. The Elementary Backstroke teaches the Whip Kick used by the competitive Breaststroke.

To keep our students safe we teach treading and sculling techniques. These skills are required in the deep end when transitioning from horizontal to vertical then back to horizontal (swim-stop-swim).

Competitive diving and flip turns are introduced toward the end of the Intermediate Level II.
